This Breathing Exerciser Equipment (Respiratory Exerciser) is made for independent and controlled breathing gymnastics.
In particular, it is suited to bedridden patients. Thus, a superficial and that´s why insufficient breathing results in an insufficient aeration of the lower located sections of lungs. It could be, that there will be an accumulation of secretions (especially phlegm) in the lower sections of lungs. Hence, an inflammation of lung´s tissue will be encouraged.
In order to prevent that, you should practice with that therapy-exerciser for breathing several times a day.
And medical workers may also teach patients how to use the devices on their own as they are going to leave the hospital.
A.Sit on the edge of your bed if possible, or sit up as far as you can in bed.
B.Hold the incentive spirometer in an upright position.
C.Place the mouthpiece in your mouth and seal lips tightly around it.
D.Breath in slowly and as deeply as possible. Allow the first ball still at the bottom. 600cc chamber to rise to the top; the other two balls still at the bottom.
E.Enhance your breath, allow the second ball in the 900 cc chamber to rise to the top; the third ball still at the bottom.
F.Keep enhancing your breath; allow all three balls to rise to the top.
G.Hold your breath as long as possible. Then take out the mouthpiece and exhale slowly and allow the balls to fall to the bottom of the column.
H.Rest for a few seconds and repeat steps one to seven at least 10 times every hour.
I.After each set of 10 deep breaths, cough to be sure your lungs are clear if you have an incision, support your incision when coughing by placing a pillow firmly against it.
J.Once you are able to get out bed safely, take frequent walks and practice the cough.
